Hey Amy. Sorry I didn't get back with you about your chickens and pecking your eyes out. It is not true!!! How are your birds doing?
I have 300 Bob White and Tennessee for sale @ $4.00 ea. They were hatched in June. Also I have 120 junior ring neck pheasants at $9.00 ea. I need to sell as i have limited space.
joeb1...they have a chicken swap at the flea market on 73 (forget the name) quit often if not every weekend. may look into that or on craigs list. I have sold chickens on there before.
I have some bantam hens and roosters that I need to sell or give away. I have a variety of chickens including Black Tailed White Japanese, Black Silkies, Golden Lace, Mille Fleur d'uclle
Thanks Mark and Aaron for your comments, Aaron, I heard that they thought of me as the rooster but wasn't sure so thanks for confirming that info:) Something else I just was told is when picking up chickens don't look at them in the eyes or have eye contact cause they will peck your eyes???? Is this true or is someone pulling my leg??? Let me know....this hasn't happened yet and I sure don't want it to happen. Thanks
Glad you are enjoying your chickens Amy. They are fun. Just an FYI they squat because you are the dominant figure which to them is usually a rooster and they squat so they rooster can mount them and do the DEED, or as my son likes to say, "look dad the hen is giving the rooster a piggy back ride!"
thats cool Amy
I have 3 Rhode island white hens and they are the sweetest girls ever. I let them out of the chicken truck today and they followed me and my chocolate lab around the yard. When I bend down to pet them they also swat down and seem to enjoy letting me pet them. I never thought I would enjoy these chickens but I really do and they are our girls! They also will eat your leftovers and love yogurt!!!!
