Step 4 is perfect, if you have a history of winter weeds/etc..then a fall app of broadleaf weed

Here's the 5 step program recommended by Green Velvet Sod Farm. They don't mention using a weed and feed at this time of year. I purchased the whole year's worth of fertilizer this spring based on this plan. Randy should consider updating this program to include the Fall weed and feed. Guess I'll make a note of it for next year...

did the blades get balanced when they where sharpen?
Doug Alexander Comment by Doug Alexander on October 17, 2009 at 7:45am
I have a question on mower blades. I sharpen my mower blade on my 22" mower razor sharp and it still looks like it rips the grass blades.
I also have a 38" John Deere commercial mower that I put gator blades on. When I purchased those, they were what I considered dull. I asked if I needed to sharpen them and they said no. The gator blades are as sharp as a butter knife. My question is how sharp does a mower blade need to be?

Once the grading is done, you can typically slice seed thru the dead material, don't forget to use a starter fertilizer too w/green velvet Seed

I have taken Mark's advice and killed my lawn to start anew. We had some drainage work done last week and are awaiting a delivery of top soil to smooth the yard some. Do I need to remove all the dead grass and weeds before reseeding?

Susan, I took Marks advice on a longer cut lawn. I cut it half as often, used half the gas and half the time as my neighbors. This practice made my neighbors yards look great! Just kidding, a longer cut lawn does seem to be more healthy.
