Stuck at work

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 2:39pm 0 Comments

Hi Guys, I have not posted anything for a while because im stuck at work. I am a member of the emergency operations plan for the Lima Refinery. As of 5/24/12. The United Steel Workers went on strike. I am one of many people that are running the refinery. I hope the company and the union get back to the bargaining table soon, but it hasn't happened yet. I am staying onsite at the refinery 24/7 and have very limited internet access, so it is hard to update and post anything. As of now all my…

Purple salamander.

Posted on May 12, 2012 at 4:27pm 0 Comments

When I was growing up i found alot of purple salamanders, They lived in the wild parts of our yards. I have not seen one for a long time. I would say about 30 years. I would like to build a habitate for them and then introduce them to it. Can anybody help me out with this project? I have a corner that has very little sunlight to build this habitate. As i remember it was always dark where i found these salamanders. I could put in a drip irrigation system on a compost pile to get it going. Im…

Snake / Mouse trap

Take a 5 gallon bucket and bury it in the ground, so the top of the bucket is level with the ground. then place 4 red bricks around the opening on top. Then place a 2' X 2' piece of plywood on top of the red bricks. In the heat of the day, snakes will go under the plywood to get out of the sun and fall in the bucket. Most garden snakes are to short to get back out of the bucket. I did this last year and caught alot of snakes, and a few mice.… Continue

Tony, my prayers are with you and your family. Just from your postings, it was easy to see what a wonderful person you are and how much you loved your wife. May God bless you with the strength with which He blessed your wife.

Tony, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. As a gardener I'm sure you'll understand when I say that God gave us memories so we could have roses in the snow. God bless. My prayers for comfort are with you.

I have a suggestion. Why not this fall we do a "Posey Mosey" garden tour and visit each others' yards and collect seeds while there?  Those who wanted to participate could supply addresses to one of us by email and they would be given to all who wanted to participate. We would each be on our own or we could car pool if we lived close to someone else who wanted to do this. We could just get in touch with the person we wanted to visit and make sure that person would be home and get directions. What do you think?
