Mark Webber created this Ning Network.

I have been talking about proper planting issues for what seems like forever, actually 1997 to be exact.  Unfortunately the vast majority of trees bought and installed today are not installed properly and by the national standards set forth by ANSI.  I thought you would like to see how a tree is planted by my team at Mark Webber's Landscaping by ANSI A300 part 2 and part 6 and Z60.1 standard.

Root flare placement at soil line:

Plant placed in the hole and root flair placed at the soil line. Burlap and wire basket removed at least 1/3 of the way down the root ball.

Digging the hole 1.5 times larger than the diameter of the root ball.  Wide saucer like planting hole will create open air space for the roots to explore and expand.
